Thanks for visiting our cottage's website

Why Fell View in Allithwaite ?

After many years of holidaying in the Lake District,in 2001 we decided to buy Fell View. We love the Southern Lakes and in particular Grange over Sands and Cartmel. Allithwaite seemed to have everything we needed. A fabulous pub to walk to, great walks from the front door, a village shop for that all important pint of milk and loaf of bread, a children’s play area and a tennis court!

It was ideal for our family, and I am sure everyone who stays would say it is a wonderful location and ideal for them!

Why Woodside?

Then in 2009 ago we saw Woodside and fell in love with the cottage and its location. Woodside was a real labour of love as it had been unchanged since the late 1960’s! I love old buildings and very much enjoy bringing them back to life, Woodside was crying out for just that! So in 2009, we bought Woodside and over several months transformed it, into what you see today.

Woodside is in a peaceful woodland valley, and as a result you look out onto quiet lanes and trees. If you want to recharge your batteries, have long scenic walks, then this is the place for you!

What's special about our cottages?

Our aim is to make your stay as luxurious and comfortable as possible. In equipping our cottages we have chosen high quality furnishings and fixtures and we have tried to provide everything you will need to have a relaxing and enjoyable holiday.
Each room at our cottages has been meticulously designed with a unique colour scheme and furnishings. We have just three bedrooms at Woodside and two bedrooms at Fell View which means we can pay attention to every detail. Many guests say we have thought of everything, I hope you would agree.
We are a small business so it’s easy for us to combine a personal touch with high standards .
Every inch of our rooms were designed and crafted by us using quality, hand-selected furnishings and colour coordinated schemes.
We wanted our accommodation to ooze warmth and comfort to ensure you have a memorable stay. All rooms have quality carefully selected beds for a good night’s sleep and topped with layers of quality linen to sink into at the end of the day. You’ll also be treated to fluffy towels at Woodside and if booked, at Fell View.
You can unwind with free wifi, or simply sit at the table by the window with a tea, coffee or wine and play games. What could be better?

Our gardens

Oh, and did I mention the gardens? You’ll be surprised at what wanders or swoops across them. And of course I must mention the peace and quiet. Both cottages are in peaceful locations with plenty of bird song to enjoy!

Location

Well what about the walks? I hear you say! We love the walk to Hampsfell from Fell View and High Dam from Woodside and we round them off with a visit to The Pheasant Pub in Allithwaite and The Swan at Newby Bridge.
We visit the cottages every 6 weeks to check on them and enjoy the area, and we work very hard to provide wonderful holiday cottages where you can truly relax

One of our favourite places to visit is Cartmel. The village store is famous for being the “Home of Sticky Toffee Pudding”

This is us, sitting on our favourite bench above High Dam, with Seymour the dog.

Sitting on bench above High Dam

Here we all are in the centre of Hawkshead.

Woodside stocks the Hawkshead Relish company’s products in our welcome tray.

Our location

Our cottages are in the Central and Southern lakes. They are close to all the attractions that the Lake District has to offer.

Just imagine...

Just imagine, if you stay at Woodside, you can take an early morning walk up to High Dam. One of the most peaceful lakes, that was much favoured by Alfred Wainwright where you can marvel at the solitude and serenity of this stunning location!

Or if you’re staying at Fell View stop for a coffee at one of the many cafes in the area or head to Cartmel and wander its ancient streets!

You can visit Hawkshead or Bowness on Windermere for a bit of retail therapy! All are so easy to reach.

Perhaps you’re like Hugh, my middle son, always looking for something challenging? So just imagine the fun you can have at Grizedale Forest’s  Go Ape, Segwey or mountain biking or just come for the scenery!

What ever the reason you come to the Lakes, like us, it will capture your heart and I am sure you will return
